When she meets her mysterious neighbor, Ezra, it doesn’t take long for Charlotte to confess the issues she’s developed. Ezra begins giving Charlotte assignments to get over her fears, and although she accepts his tasks, all she really wants is to be with him. When she’s with Ezra, she’s able to forget the hollow ache in her heart and the fact that her family is falling apart. But Ezra has secrets…

Can Charlotte pull what’s left of her family together, mend her broken heart, and allow herself to fall for Ezra? Or is it all just a storm waiting to happen?

Review

Waiting for the Storm is a beautiful story about a young girl dealing with the loss of her mother, her sister’s hatred, her father’s depression, and her own withdrawal. Charlotte has spent the last year caring for her dying mother, when her mother does pass away she asked that her family fulfill one wish. She wants her family to spend the summer in her childhood beach house on Angel Island.

Now that they are there, Charlotte feels so disconnected. Her sister Ella hates her guts and her father is so depressed and withdrawn. Books are Charlotte’s one escape. When she is reading she can be who ever she wants. Nothing else exists while she is deep within the pages. But Charlotte knows that her life is not a book and she has to venture out sometime. That is when she meets Ezra.

Ezra lives next door to the beach house and he helps Charlotte cope by giving new tasks to do each day. They form an easy friendship that really helps Charlotte deal with everything that is going on around her and inside of her. Then Charlotte starts to develop feelings for Ezra that are more than friendship. Ezra feels the same way about Charlotte.

This story is so touching.  Ezra is really there for Charlotte. He really gets what she needs and he does everything in his power to help her get it. From the first time that they meet, you can tell that they are good for one another. They are complete opposites of each other, yin and yang. Opposites truly attract in this story!

From the first page of this story you are drawn into Charlotte’s world. I fell in love with Charlotte right from the start. She is such a strong character, independent, compassionate, and as the story progresses I am so proud of how she has grown. One thing that really sets this story apart from a lot of other YA Contemporary’s is that Charlotte could function and live her life without Ezra. Ezra complements Charlotte and vice versa, they add to each other’s life and want to share it with one another. There are not unhealthy obsessions or dependency issues, which is quite refreshing!

This story will make you cry, having you laughing until your sides hurt, and make your heart burst with happiness. This is definitely an emotional rollercoaster ride that will take the reader through an array of emotions with Charlotte, Ella, and their father. Marie Landry  is a YA Nicholas Sparks! This is a must read that you will not regret!

Losing Francesca Book Trailer

Review

Losing Francesca is a touching tale of a young women who is torn between two family’s, two ways of life, and two identities. Francesca is taken into custody when she arrives at an American airport because she is matched up with an artists rendering of a six year old Fiona Sullivan who was kidnapped. When the authorities take her to the Sullivan family to live until she turns eighteen, Francesca is furious and outraged. She really is a spoiled brat in the beginning of this story, but she earns the title honestly having been raised by a powerful and rich man who gave her whatever her heart desired.

Brody knew that Fiona was the one for him when she was six years old. After she was kidnapped he searched for her for years, when he hears that she has been found, wild horses could not keep him away. When he looks into Francesca’s eyes he knows that this is his Fiona, all he has to do now is convince her that she can be both Fiona and Francesca, after all it is not her name that defines her.

This book was absolutely fabulous! From the very beginning you are thrown into this story and you feel sorry for the Sullivan’s, frustration that Francesca cannot even be nice, and compassion for Francesca because she is out of her element and essentially being held prisoner. Then there is Brody. Totally swoonworthy! He has a past and he has a edge to him, but with Fee he is gentle, patient, and just plain beautiful.

J.A. Huss writes a story that will twist you up in knots and just when you think you have it figured out, well just take for me, you don’t! The twists and turns, the amazing relationships, and dynamic characters, Losing Francesca will captivate you and have you hanging on to every word and feeling every emotion! A must read that you will never forget!

Heidi

Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.

Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.

Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).

Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.

Review

Barbie World picks up where Barbie Girl left off. Barbie is heartbroken over what happen with Dylan and just wants to move one. Which is really hard to do now that she is a ward of Dylan’s parents. Having Dylan flaunt his new girlfriend in front of her, and to see the approval of his parents of his choice, just eats at her. The worst part was that she still has feelings for Dylan, even if she does not trust him.

Barbie is a strong and fierce character that is unique and straightforward and does not try to change who she is for anyone, even Dylan. In this story Barbie is really trying to figure out more about her past and the choices that her Mother made.  The more this story continues, the more I respect Barbie. She takes all that the world throws at her and works through it, finds a way to move on and learn from her mistakes.

Barbie and Dylan’s relationship is almost destructive in its intensity. Even when they aren’t having a relationship they are involved. The need and dependency on Dylan’s part makes you want to pity him because in some ways it is like he does not know what he wants, and in others ways he just is not strong enough to defy his parents. Through all of that Dylan is still a likeable character, albeit a young and confused one, but still overall likeable.

Barbie World is a captivating new installment in the Baby Doll Series!

When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her married and much older director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Eversea Teaser Pic #1

Excerpt

Jack’s lips were warm and soft next to the rough skin of his chin, and I drew closer to him like a magnet, needing to press my body, my skin, against his. But there were two layers of fabric between us, and I became aware of the cool press of his wet t-shirt.

“You need to take this off,” I managed. My voice sounded raspy to my own ears as I made to lift the fabric.

He let go of me and reached behind his neck. Gathering a handful of shirt, he peeled it forward over his head.

My breath left me as I came face to chest with his perfectly sculpted body. The firelight played across his skin and his flexed abdominal muscles as he leaned back on his haunches slightly to lay the shirt out by the fire.

Without thinking, I brought the flat of my hand up to the center of his chest below his collarbone. His skin was cool to the touch and smooth.

He stilled where he was, leaning slightly away from me on his knees and brought his eyes to mine.

I very slowly ran my palm down over the ridges and planes of his chest, pausing for a moment when I noticed the hard beat of his heart. His eyes got darker and broodier as my hand continued it’s slow journey downward. His breathing changed, as did my own in response. My eyes dropped to follow my hand as it reached the belt buckle of his black jeans.

“You should take these off, too.” My words came out as a whisper.

But she can’t bring herself to, not after she’s welcomed into a new circle of friends. Friends who, like Drew, all have illnesses ready to claim their independence or their lives

For the first time, Saylor finds out what it feels like to be in love, to have friends who genuinely care about her. But secrets have a way of revealing themselves. What will happen when Saylor’s is out?

Review

Secret for a Song is an emotional coming of age story about a young woman named Saylor. Saylor has a distant mother that does not pay her any attention unless she is sick. She just wants someone to love her and make her feel special, but the only way that she has been able to achieve this is by deliberately making herself sick.

Munchausen’s syndrome: syndrome consisting of feigning acute and dramatic illness for which no clinical evidence is ever found.

When she meets  Drew, he makes her feel special for being herself, not because she is “sick”. Drew thinks that Saylor is a new member of a local support group for people with some type of terminal illness. Saylor does not correct him. HE makes her fill special, just by being around her. The more that they get to know each other Saylor learns what real love is. But will Drew love her if he finds out her secret?

Saylor is a complicated character. Although she is perfectly healthy physically, mentally she is a wreck. This story really makes you think about how you treat people, especially other people in your family. Saylor’s Mom did not spend much time with her and when Saylor discovers her mother becomes the mother she wants her to be when she is “sick”, Saylor keeps it up so that she can feel like that all the time.  The romance between Saylor and Drew is very sweet, but Saylor knows that her secret would ruin what they have together.

Secret for a Song is a story about unconditional love, betrayal, and the power of forgiveness. Most of all forgiving yourself.

Synopsis

Smash into You BN Kobo

Jude has spent the whole twenty three years of his life running. From what, he wasn’t quite sure. His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week’s pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate. He never felt different. He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.

Never stop running…

Now he’s semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It’s been three months since he had to move because ‘Biloxi’, as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.

Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashes into his car with hers. Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too. And now, they’re after them both.
