Author Spotlight
Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.
Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.
Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).
Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.

Review
Barbie World picks up where Barbie Girl left off. Barbie is heartbroken over what happen with Dylan and just wants to move one. Which is really hard to do now that she is a ward of Dylan’s parents. Having Dylan flaunt his new girlfriend in front of her, and to see the approval of his parents of his choice, just eats at her. The worst part was that she still has feelings for Dylan, even if she does not trust him.
Barbie is a strong and fierce character that is unique and straightforward and does not try to change who she is for anyone, even Dylan. In this story Barbie is really trying to figure out more about her past and the choices that her Mother made. The more this story continues, the more I respect Barbie. She takes all that the world throws at her and works through it, finds a way to move on and learn from her mistakes.
Barbie and Dylan’s relationship is almost destructive in its intensity. Even when they aren’t having a relationship they are involved. The need and dependency on Dylan’s part makes you want to pity him because in some ways it is like he does not know what he wants, and in others ways he just is not strong enough to defy his parents. Through all of that Dylan is still a likeable character, albeit a young and confused one, but still overall likeable.
Barbie World is a captivating new installment in the Baby Doll Series!
